Getting started
Use the import control on the bookshelf to choose an EPUB from the Files app. You can import books from files or folders. Open a book cover to start reading; Pagekin remembers your reading position.
Which books can I import?
Pagekin reads EPUB files. Use books you have permission to read. PDF, Kindle formats, and DRM-protected books are not supported. If an EPUB will not open, try exporting a valid, unprotected EPUB from its original source.
How do I change the page layout?
Open reading settings to adjust fonts, text size, spacing, and layout. Original text supports horizontal and vertical reading. Translation text is displayed horizontally.
How do I use translation?
Translation is optional. Configure Gemini or an OpenAI-compatible service in translation settings using your own API key and an available model. You can request translation while reading. Automatic translation and prefetch are optional settings.
Your provider may charge for requests. Model access, quota, availability, and processing are controlled by the provider. Review its privacy policy before sending book text. A provider error does not prevent basic EPUB reading.
How are books and reading data stored?
Pagekin uses your iCloud Documents storage when available, with local storage as a fallback. Availability depends on your Apple account, iCloud settings, and storage. Translation caches are stored on your device. API keys are stored in the device Keychain.
Keep your original EPUB files as a backup. Removing the app does not necessarily remove existing iCloud copies.
How can I report a problem?
Email your iPhone model, iOS version, Pagekin version, and the steps that produced the issue. A screenshot can help. Do not send API keys, passwords, or entire copyrighted books. If a sample is needed, use a short example you have permission to share.
